DescriptionTownship Patterns was established in South Africa 1998. The company is the marketing arm for self autonomous women cooperatives established in the township of Khayelitsha with the support of the French/South African NGO, Afrique du Sud, Bidonvilles. Township Patterns designs and markets bags for retail, conferences and tourism industry for the local and international market. Their biodegradable bags are inspired by the unique environment and culture of SA township, they are sold under the trademark township®. Their Fair Trade Commitment is to build trade relations on solidarity and sustainability as well as a Fair remuneration for the women. Township Patterns operates under the transparency standard of business transaction, they believe this is the key for building trust and a solid long term relationship for the organization. Promotion of innovative business model through all their retail points to reach more customers willing to shift to Fair Trade products is what they aspire to achieve.
