Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI)

Date : 2011-01-25 09:42:11

DescriptionAfghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) is an independent, not for profit organization that serves as the preeminent voice for a burgeoning private sector in Afghanistan. ACCI was established in March 2008 through a merger between the (formerly) state controlled ACCI (established in 1931) and the Afghanistan International Chamber of Commerce (AICC). In 2009, enabling legislation passed by the Afghanistan parliament, established a framework for a unitary chamber structure with a head office in Kabul and semi-autonomous branch chambers in the provinces. This approach allows fledgling provincial chambers to leverage the expertise of their recognized national counterpart to grow their respective chambers and establishes local and national channels to promulgate the interests of the private sector. ACCI is a strong membership driven organization that advocates policies deemed favorable and conducive to creating a vibrant business environment for local and international businesses, provides its membership with a package of services including investment and trade promotion; and is uniquely positioned to facilitate the information needs to educate stakeholders, influence public policy dialogue, and deliver information-based services to its members.
